Over 300 rescuers, 45 pieces of equipment battle blaze at fuel depot near Kiev
KIEV, June 11. /TASS/. The firefighting effort at the fuel depot outside Kiev involves more than 300 rescuers and 45 pieces of equipment and one fire engine train, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said on Thursday.
"Over the past 24 hours, an effort has been carried out to extinguish fire on the territory of the fuel depot that occurred on June 8, 2015. The firefighting effort involves 45 pieces of equipment of the State Emergency Service, 303 male firefighters, and a fire engine train of Ukrainian Railways," the service said.
The blaze scene has been cordoned off by 430 National Guard soldiers in order to ensure security.
The fire at the BRSM-Nafta oil depot, located approximately 20 miles to the southwest of Kiev, erupted late on Monday and resulted in several explosions of tanks.
Four people have been killed, one person has gone missing and 13 others have been injured as a result of the fire. Regional prosecutors have launched criminal inquiries into the case on charges of violation of safety rules at potentially explosive plants or in potentially explosive workshops.
