President Elbegdorj Tsakhia holds a press briefing on some draft laws

24.06.2015, President of Mongolia Elbegdorj Tsakhiag has held a press briefing on the draft laws implemented in the scope of his Action Plan and “From a Big Government to a Smart Government” initiative and answered questions from journalists. He informed about Draft law on Political Parties, revised draft of the Law on Public Services and other draft laws initiated by President of Mongolia. 

Speaker of the State Great Khural Z.Enkhbold, Deputy Speaker of Parliament M.Enkhbold, Head of the MPP caucus in Parliament, MP S.Byambatsogt, Head of the DP caucus in Parliament, MP B.Garamgaibaatar and other officials were present. 

President Elbegdorj noted: “Through this briefing I will inform you about draft laws implemented and discussed by the Office of the President of Mongolia since June, 2013. In order to address difficulties and challenges facing the government of Mongolia, “From a Big Government to a Smart Government” initiative was launched and a national consultative meeting was organized in November, 2013. The leaders of party floors and factions in the Parliament and independent members of the Parliament signed a Statement of Support for the Smart Government initiative. Media organizations, public representatives, social activists and business people actively participated in the event. Also, the National Security Council of Mongolia issued a recommendation on implementing the Smart Government initiative. Today, I would like to inform you about the draft laws initiated in the scope of this work. 

Currently, 19 draft laws are being implemented, 6 draft laws are ready to submit to the Parliament, 8 draft laws are already submitted to the Parliament and 5 draft laws are approved by the Parliament. Today, I would like to highlight two of them, the Draft law on Political Parties and the revised draft of the Law on Public Services. These draft laws will play important role in solving many political challenges in Mongolia”.
